I’m a self-taught pastel pencil artist (give or take a few tutorials) who enjoys watching the development of each piece of artwork as it gradually comes to life on the paper. I specialise in pencil work but not the subjects I paint and draw, so I just look for something that piques my interest and go from there.

I like to paint and draw in great detail, something that has carried over from parallel work as a proof reader and editor of over 30 books. So I tend to paint from photographs rather than on site because I don’t paint quickly. Of course, that does give me a good reason to go out into the wilderness to take some photographs in the first place. There’s nothing quite like a good hike in the countryside or round an ancient monument.
